Casa Do Pescador is situated just a 100 yards walking distance to the beautiful sandy beach which has the prestigious blue flag award.
It is a gently sloping beach which is ideal for children and has the added advantage of a lifeguard in season.

The famous beach bar is open from about 10am right through until 10pm or later in the summer months and serves excellent meals and snacks as well as cold drinks so you can sit on the veranda and relax while keeping your eye on the children.

Burgau itself retains all of its original charm, the streets are still cobbled, and the original Smugglers alleys are the main pathways through the village, with quaint gaily painted cottages on either side. Magnificent views can be seen from the many vantage points and beautiful and historic walks are available in every direction.
Whilst beautiful and picturesque Burgau is still very much a working fishing village, these days the larger boats go out from Lagos or Sagres, but the small boats go out daily from the slipway and the catch can be viewed on their return (sardines, squid, cuttle fish and many other varieties).

Although Burgau is not very big it has 24 small but excellent restaurants and bars catering for every taste and pocket, whatever you want to eat you will find it, fresh fish, steaks, kebabs, pizza's there is food for all the familly. All the restaurants cater for children and quite a few will supply their menu as take away meals for those of you who prefer to eat at home without cooking.

There is a small street market at the top of the village every morning selling something different every day, fresh fruit & veg, fish, clothes, the post office is still a van that visits every day and rings a bell to let you know it's there.
Other ammenities include 2 supermarkets, 2 wine shops, 2 gift shops, Newsagent, Estate Agent, Property Management and Tours, and now its own cash machine.

The Sports centre just outside of the village has a swimming pool, football, squash and tennis courts all of which you are welcome to use, they also run a very good activity programme for children and this is available daily to any that would like to go.
From Burgau beach you can enjoy many activities including snorkelling, fishing and scuba diving, lessons can be booked if you want to give it a try.

Within the village there are two swimming pools, you will be welcome to use them as long as you ask first and make use of their bar or catering facilities on the day.

If you fancy an equestrian day out, horse riding is 5 minutes drive away.
For the younger holiday makers or young at heart there are two excellent water parks within 20 minutes drive of Burgau and a very good Zoo at Lagos.
Water sports are available at Luz beach, which is the next village along.

If you want to explore out of the village an easy 10 minute drive away is the magnificent historical city of Lagos with its beautiful marina where you can enjoy a coffee or lunch while watching the boats going in and out, opposite the marina is the harbour where the main fishing vessels land their catches and from the small chandlers and shops surrounding it you can see and buy the fresh caught prawns and crabs or if you feel very adventurous lobster or cray fish, so fresh you will never have tasted anything quite like it before.
The city itself is fantastic, narrow cobbled streets play host to not only many interesting shops, but added to this are numerous street cafe's and restaurants where you can sit and watch the different street performers.
Historic places of interest include the slave market and the historic walls, the castle and many other features well worth visiting.
On the first Saturday of each month there is a huge Gypsy market on the arena field just on the outskirts of the city, there you can buy (you are expected to haggle) anything from sweets to your kitchen sink, and it has become a favourite morning out for lots of visitors to the area.

If you drive in the opposite direction, you can visit the port of Sagres with its large fleet of fishing boats, unlike Lagos here you can walk the gangways between the boats to watch them offload their catch.

Cape St Vincente the furthest point of Europe is just a short drive from Sagres from there you can continue round to the rugged west coast, well worth a visit!
Take the cliff top road from Bordeira and watch the surfers ride the waves, the scenery on this side of the Algarve is quite spectacular, huge high cliffs with massive waves curling their way up the wide sandy beaches. The restaurants on the west coast serve superb fresh sea dishes for a fraction of the cost that you will pay elsewhere.

All along the coast around Burgau there are small coves with beautiful sandy beaches some with beach bars and some without. Some ideal for surfing and some just for lazing the day away and getting that all important tan.

Many golfers use Burgau as their home from home, apart from the three superb courses less than 10 mins away it's an easy drive to the many fabulous courses all over the Algarve whilst offering a relaxed and easy way of life when off the course.

For those of you who prefer a bit more night life, a taxi into Lagos will cost about 8 euros each way. In Praia Da Luz the next village along from Burgau there is a cinema, and for those of you who like to dance the night away a night club as well.

Burgau is now only one hours drive from Faro airport, and whilst not essential car hire is recommended if you want to get out and about.
Lots of visitors however never leave the village and if you intend to be one of them there is an excellent taxi service ranging in cost from about 50 - 80 euros each way. Alternatively if there is only one or two of you the new shuttle bus is only about 23 euros each and will collect you and return you to the airport just the same as a taxi.
